Sooooo hey, I'm getting the NZXT h440 and since I have a corsair h80 I'm getting the Corsair SP120 quiet edition.

With the h440 you get like 4 fans included, and from the box they're connected to the fan hub in the back of the case.

So what I was thinking; if i get a Zalman fan mate 2 I can put that between the hub and the cable that goes to the power supply and controll all the fans. Instead of getting one zalman fan mate 2 for each fan in the case.

but the one in the case isnt a controllet? isnt it just a hub?

yes. i am mistaken its the more expensive nzxt cases that have controllers. i think it would be easier and take up less room just to get something like this though http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811995075

If you are just looking to undervolt the fans to 7v or something, why not try a molex 12v to 7v adapter?

Can't control it but at 7v the case fans would pretty much be silent

you can make one yourself, pretty simple.

Linus has a video on it. just search for 12v to 7v molex fan adaptor

Yeah but if i do it wrong and accidently plug it in the wrong molex i will f*ck shit up. It seems like something i would do. So I think that it'd be worth to buy the fan mate because its not that pricy  :P

The fan hubs gets powered by a molex, and controled by a switch somewhere on the case with low mid and high setting, atleast that how it is with my 530 case.

So i think it schould be possible to use the cable from that switch, to connect to a aftermarket fan controller somehow.

That's not how it is on the h400 I think,

I found this picture on google ^  and as you can see there's no molex to power it, I believe its the bottom "3" pin connecter that brings power to it (if that's even possible).

So what I was thinking was to use the voltage controller between that bottom 3pin connecter and the hub and have all the fans connected run at the same voltage. Is this possible?

if that controller you ordered is powererd by its own, and it just has an 3 pin output for fans then you should able to connect the hub to the controller, however, youhave to be carefull then with how much fans you connect to the hub then. I think its better to connect the fans straight to the controller, and just leave the hub for what it is.
