For studios : Arri alexa or Red epic.

For indies : Sony A7 series or Panasonic GH series.

Both studios and indie movies shop for their camera gear at Hot Rod Cameras in Hollywood (Burbank).  I go there whenever I am in L.A. It's the most incredible candy store for cinema camera gear, lenses and lights.  I was there a month ago.

 

If you are looking to get into cinema gear at any level, you can't find a better shop. Highly recommend.
