Hoping someone else has seen this issue or knows of a fix.  Built a new system with a 13600K and a 3080ti running Windows 11.  Bios is set to PCIe Gen 4.  Every time I try to update the drivers from the very old one that automatically installs from Windows, the screen goes funny.  I attached a couple pictures showing how it looks when the drivers finish installing, and after a restart to get the start menu back to take the drivers back off using DDU.  Tried not having windows install the really old driver, and did a fresh install of both the latest drivers and one from a few months ago.  Same thing each time.  Also tried using Geforce Experience to install them to no avail.  Running the recommended 3840x2160, 120Hz resolution and hooked up through HDMI.  Different resolutions or refresh rates don't help with the issue.  The drivers windows automatically finds is from 09/21 and is 472.12, which seems to work fine.

Any help would be appreciated.  I'm a bit of a noob, but tech savvy and trying to get my first big build in many years completed.  Thanks in advance.

Broken card.

Don't think it's a faulty GPU.  Brand new card, and works fine with very old driver, even when stress testing or gaming.  The only major reason I'm hellbent on updating the driver's is that the audio through HDMI running to the stereo decides to go out every day or so and needs a restart to get working again.  Hoping a more current driver will also help with the audio issue.

Your screen is quite clearly artifacting.

This is how it should look.IMG_20221221_043840.thumb.jpg.4b602ed47b015da5b21f6272033c6b75.jpg

Looks like a dying GPU. Brand new or not, artifacting is usually the first sign. Best case scenario is you having a dying HDMI port. That would also explain the occasional audio drop +  the artifacts in the desktop. BUT dying HDMI port soon leads to the rest start doing the same until the GPU technically works, it just doesn't display any picture. Have 3 of those in my drawer.

Its not artifacting at all.

Works fine with a year and a half old Nvidia driver installed.  Newer drivers cause what appears to be some sort of localized resolution mismatch.  Old driver, looks just fine.
