Okay, thank you. Ill follow that whenever its posted.

I recorded the video, It was an easy fix.

Don't forget to make sure that the BIOS is in Legacy mode before you proceed.

You will need to boot into the Windows installer from a USB drive and follow what i did in the video.

In the video the disk you select has to be the OS drive, otherwise it won't work.

I marked my OS partition as active so i can convert it to gpt (according to youtube video it was needed.)

And now whenever i try booting into windows it tells me that an os was not detected, ctrl alt delete to restart. Any help?

I dont have access to a usb drive for installation media until tomorrow, so if theres a way to fix it now itll be appreciated.

That YouTube video is nonsense, I just converted all the drives in my main rig to GPT and didn't have to do any of the things you have done.

Is the BIOS set to UEFI Mode or Legacy Mode?

You will probably have to wait for the USB drive if you want your data intact.

It was originally csm or Legacy. Ive tried booting into just uefi and switching back to csm, both showed the same error.

I guess i will wait because i really do NOT want to lose any data.

Is the drive GPT or MBR now?

Can you post a link to the video and tell us where you stopped following the video?

Also i would recommend cloning the drive with something like Macrium Reflect,

Just in case something happens.

GPT is only needed if: your drive is >2TB OR you want to boot UEFI only. Which is my understanding pursued by Windows 11 only.

But it seems you've done something else to mess up the boot sector, do an MBR repair as it's my understanding you did not convert to GPT yet.

Ive done literally nothing else. I changed it to active and rebooted my pc. Then was never able to boot back into windows.

I did not convert.

And that is why i wouldnt bother attempting to fix something that isnt even broken in the first place

Marking partition as active reminds me of one of the steps to make a bootable usb (i prefer using cmd to make bootable usb), so i dont think thats what you should be doing on your os drive, marking primary partition active is the step just before formatting the usb so i have no idea why youd do that unless you wanna format your drive

I want to convert to update to windows 11.

So you will want to change the settings in BIOS back to Legacy.

I am going to reproduce what you did on one of my systems, record myself fixing it and post the link to the video here.
