SATA Express compatable with normal SATA?

Hey,

I was just watching the NCIX video on the Z79 boards with SATA express.

It looks as though the connector is just 2 normal SATA plus one extra new connector.

Am i right, and could i use these connectors as just normal SATA rather than SATA express if i wanted too?
