Hi, I have tried to build my pc a week ago, I paired a z590 w a i5-11400F. While the installation of the cpu on its socket. I was told to move it to the sides a little bit. In that way I would make sure it was correctly positioned, at least I was told that. However, when finished the build except for the gpu which had not arrived, had to take everything off the mobo because the cable management was horrible. Now, I am a little worried about having bent a pin. There is no visible/ great damage I can perceive. But, is moving the cpu with no force just a finger moving it to the sides a mm, while on the socket( LGA) before laying down the lever, bad?

If you didn't see a bent pin then you fine. The wiggling is just a paranoia thing people (including myself) do. It should be fine to set it in and latch the lever.

If youre worried about bent pins, the best way to know is to just remove the cpu and inspect the pins. though as long as the cpu didnt slip out of the socket you should be fine. either way the only way you will truly know is to look

Haha i do the same thing, its not just a pure paranoia thing though cause ive had some boards where you need to put abit of force on the cpu to put it into the socket, not much force though (old 775 boards so maybe socket plastic got abit warped overtime or something), and also sometimes mispositioning the cpu slightly so it kinda looks like its in the socket but its actually not and some corner(s) got lifted

Wanna think I didnt, took a look and nothing extremely weird, isnt it possible to slightly bend many and appear as normal? Is my first build and spent all my money so I am very worried.
