I have a 2tb WD Green drive that came out of a WD MyBook from 2011. Can I use it as a normal hdd for my pc or will I see impacts on the performance (I use a wd blue 4tb from 2017 which also spins at 5400rpm). I also have an intenso 120gb sata ssd that I propably won't use since windows takes up most of the space. I was thinking about buying an m.2 (1tb Kioxia exceria g2) and use that as my one and only drive. Do you think that I have to buy the m.2, get the m.2 and use the hdd with it or just use the things I already own?

Everything will load a lot faster with the M.2, and you can definitely use it with your HDD for extra capacity. It's up to you whether it's worth the price, though.

If I can use the hdd without it being unuasable then I will get a lower capacity m.2 and use them together. Thanks for the help!

Also, are you planning on using that laptop drive in addition to your current drive? Or instead of it?

I'm planning to use the m.2 that I ordered (500gb crucial p5) and that 2tb wd green from 2011. The other drive is used by another pc.

i think only you can answer this,  from my pov if you're ok with a 3.5" 5400rpm drive a second one would hardly matter since your hdd performance is already really low, but ultimately it's still fine just incredibly slow compared to a ssd .
