Hello im new here,

I saw an older post with kind of the same question so im sorry if this is repetitive.

during the gpu shortage i needed to get a P.C. to do some non gaming related work, i wanted to build one but decent gpus were still kind of hard to come by so I ended up just buying a pre-built with an RTX 3050 and a Core I7 12700KF.

I now find myself getting into gaming morem wanting more power and a on the gpu side.

I really want to wait and get a 4070 so i have started messing around with overclocking my 3050 in the hopes that a few more fps will tide me over until i can upgrade.

I looked up some tutorials and am overclocking via msi afterburner, and everyone says that it is basically impossible to kill your gpu doing this with all of the safety measures in modern graphics cards.

My issue is that i am currently quite a bit over the numbers that ive seen should be a reasonable overclock, and i still haven't hit any instability.

Currently at 2175 (+275) on the gpu clock and 8250 (+1250) on the memory clock. Drawing around 130-145 watts at 80ish degrees.

currently ive put about 5 hours in to assassins creed Valhalla at very high details, 1080p. Averaging about 90 fps and haven't had any problems so far.

So my question is, is this a reasonable overclock? I'm Really new to this and im sorry if its a dumb question. i just want to make sure i don't kill my card because all the tutorials i watched said to go for like +50-100 on the gpu clock.

Thanks!

I am really happy to be a part of this community!

Overclocking will never be dangerous on a modern GPU. It will just crash or blue screen if the overclocking is unstable. If you don't receive game crashes or blue screens then you're ok.
