Elden Ring

leclod

Hi guys,

I'm slowing thinking about buying Elden Ring.

Right now I could buy a SteamKey for 41.- or a PS4 Hard Version for 52.- . Hard (don't know what's the right word) is convenient but still expensive.

I've got a PS4 Pro and a RTX 3060, can somebody tell me which would be better and if better by a significant margin ? I guess not but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks,

I'm willing to swim against the current.

You will be playing with controller most likely so I would keep that in mind. I would consider both the resolution at which you plan on playing it along with the refresh rate. At 1080p 60 fps either is fine. If you have it on steam, you will have it on any system you own, but if you buy for PS4 you will only have it on PS4.

Ok, so you say PS4 Pro is similar to 3060 ?

You can resell the physical "hard" copy.

If you keep your PS4 for a long time, then you can play it for a long time.

You cannot sell your steam copy.

The steam key you're buying is not guaranteed safe because of how that market works.

You will likely be able to buy a new gaming computer in 20 years.

It comes down to two things imo:

1. You may want to sell it so get PS4 hard copy.

2. You may want to spend less money, wait for a steam sale. Winter and summer sale are the biggest ones

Ok, most of this I knew, thank you anyway.

In my experience Steam remains more expensive than other online seller even when on sale.

I've had zero problems with my current Steamkey seller Instant Gaming.

I understand my request wasn't very straightforward.

Really my question was, I could buy a steam key right now for a reasonnable price (41.-).

Or I could wait for the better PS4 Hard option, like you said resell value, lending to my nephew...

But, is Elden Ring on PS4 Pro, good enough (I have a 4K 65" Oled). Is it, at least, similar to a RTX3060 rendition ?

I'm willing to swim against the current.

Pc version does run better than the ps4 one and its cheaper so id get that.

Also mods like the full multiplayer mod so you can play through the whole game with friends instead of having to unsummon and resummon them when going into areas, dungeons,...

Yes.

The framerate is unlocked but its not a stable 60. Also the "4k" mode is 1800p chekerboard which doesnt look as good as even 1440p.

To keep in mind the ps4 cpu is very very low end basically what if a core 2 quad got 8 cores.

The ps4 pro has a slightly faster clocked one but the real upgrade was the gpu. So if games are cpu limited like elden ring tends to be the pro will do very little to increase stability

As far as I know, the console versions run fine.

If you want to be able to loan it to your nephew after you beat it, ps4 is better.

If you like the souls games a ton and will definitely mod it, go for the more expensive steam version.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox one have been optimized for specifically because their specifications don't change.

However, their graphics card is a top of the line AMD card from like 2009.

I haven't checked out any YouTube comparisons but if you want to see nitty gritty differences in performance and visuals, some YouTube comparisons of PS4 pro vs rtx 3060 Elden ring videos might help you on that front.
