CPU Instability at Stock settings

Hey! So I was benchmarking some things for the past few days and I noticed some really bizzare behaviour of my cpu/aio.

I have a R9 3900x with a Lian Li Galahad 240 AIO.

My CPU is stock running at 1.5V. That's what the bios and HWInfo64 say.
When doing AIDA Extreme, the temps are fine for a few minutes (2-3) but after that they spike to 92-95 at which point I stop it.

Trying to undervolt the cpu kinda fails since my bios is really weird (It tells me that the set value is 1.1) and even when I forced it to certain voltages that didn't change anything.
My AIO is with the pump down and the idle temps are 40-50C.

I am not even sure where to start and where to end with all this mess, so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Idle temps seem high.

Maybe check the installation to make sure there is good coverage of the CPU by the AIO.

There is PBO controller software out there that run in windows not BIOS that you can play around with to try and undervolt, but I would get the hardware figured out first and see what's up with the AIO.

May I ask how can there be no good coverage? I screwed the AIO onto the preinstalled brackets on the MOBO, that means that it's installed properly, right?

Tightening one side down too much before doing the other side, forgetting to take off the protective tape over the thermal paste, there are a few ways it can go wrong.

Aida extreme is also just that, Extreme.  The CPU is fine during normal operations, correct?

EDIT - Spelling

I see and yes. During normal gaming the temps seem to be fine.

The cooler can’t handle your cpu with a real load on it. My 5900X gets 1.5v too, but it’s not the same as setting 1.5 in bios.

Do you think that the cooling affects the CPU Voltage?

Not really unless it’s already hot. Generally AIOs are pretty..

well what would you consider hot? I have discord and a few tabs of chrome open and my cpu temp is 41-55C

That’s a little warmer than my 5900X. It idles 27-30 depending if the furnace came on or not 😄

That's the thing. It's a bit bizzare considering that the outside temp is rn -4C and inside is something like 18/19. So definitely not the environment that could affect it.

I really don’t like AIOs. They look nice though..

AFAIK AIOs should have the same if not better performance than air coolers, so there must be an issue with my system

How long have you had the cooler for, and had it always been mated to that cpu?

Less than a year and yes.
Today I actually repased the cpu and made sure that I install the AIO Properly. It seems that this only made things worse.
I ran AIDA again and it spiked to 95 after the first few seconds after which I stopped it. The fans are still running after and it took a solid 2-3 minutes for it to come down and now it idles at around 60C still....
So I am not sure what the issue is here

It sounds like it’s either not making good contact or you have a coolant flow problem, or it’s too much cpu for the cooler.. I’m not sure.

I saw videos of this aio cool i7-12700ks with no issue.
And regarding the contact..I tightened the screws to the maximum. They literally won't torque any more...

Are you using default motherboard settings?

How is it unstable?

Yes. Default mb settings.

And it's unstable because the voltage and temps are way too high and the performance is sucky

How so?

What's the core voltage under load?

The voltage is fine, the cooler however is not. Don’t those Galahads suffer from gunk buildup too? I thought they did. I would consider an RMA.
