Do GPU need shared memory?

This is completely normal, even for discrete GPUs. It should never use more than a few MB though, unless it runs out of VRAM (in which case your performance likely tanks anyway)

 

Right now it is using 0.1 GB out of a potential 15.8 GB. Play some games, you should not see it go above this value (or at least not very much)

What's your CPU?
Do you have iGPU enabled ?

Mine is something like 64GB.  Not worrying about running out with 24GB dedicated though.  No worrying about 12GB on 1440p either.
