Hey All,

I just want to preface this post with that I’ve build around 10 or so gaming computers and have done multiple upgrades and breakdowns of my own computer and I’m absolutely stumped right now. So yesterday I received a new motherboard, processor and case for my computer and went ahead and did a full rebuild in the new case with the new components. The first time I went to boot the new build nothing happened. I got no lights, no beeps, absolutely nothing. Figured maybe a power supply issue so I went and grabbed a power supply and swapped out the one in there, attempted to boot and got nothing again. No sounds, no lights, nothing. Very strange I think, maybe a motherboard issue. I order a new one and call it a night.

Today while I’m waiting for the new board to come in I figured I’d go ahead and put my old board and processor back into the new case so at least I could game some. This time I hit the power button, I see lights flash once and then absolutely nothing again. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or messing up. I’ve double check wiring and rewired and replaced wires and everything and I’m getting absolutely nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys!

I just also want to make sure that I say that I h e gone through the no boot/post check list and all the fail points I could think of have been checked and/or replaced

Dead Old PSU ? Can happen if you keep fudging with parts.

Always, always, always Do An Out Of Box Post Test.

That way if anything is bad, you pack it right back up & send it for RMA.

That was my first thought but I replaced with a brand new one so not PSU

So... out of case test results, shortly ?

So I’ve been doing out of case tests. First I did paper clip test and psu seems to power up just fine. Next I ran just motherboard power connected and I get just a flash of all lights and then nothing else after that. I even switched to a different motherboard and processor entirely and exact same issue. I can replicate the flash at the very least but did I maybe fry both of the motherboards?

As of yesterday my original motherboard was working perfectly fine and now I can’t get that one to boot at all. I’m just extremely confused

If you shorted the wrong pins it is possible, disconnect all power, let it sit for a few minutes, test again, will need GPU if you don't have an Integrated one.

Make sure monitor is set to HDMI, and the channel you connected to, aka say HDMI 1.

Looks like it ended up being a ram issue with maybe some incompatibility between the 2 different types I had. Was able to get a boot removing one brand and leaving the other. Thanks for the help today!
