Yet again guys I am still experiencing the lock up/freeze I have been since configuring this system, I think I have finally found the culprit... I have noticed that if I go into the bios in my motherboard and click on monitor voltages, the whole system completely freezes... do you guys have any ideas? thanks!

Does it lock up if you click on anything else, like say fan profiles or RAM settings? (just anything that is not the voltages).

No, it seems to be perfectly fine everywhere else in the BIOS, I was having problems in windows which seemed to happen at random times

do a bios update...

I already have the latest bios for the board

Okay, that tells me that it is related to power delivery, either the PSU or the BIOS settings for it.  Have you checked and double checked to be sure that the 24 pin and EPS power cables are firmly attached to the motherboard?  What about raising the voltage by .025V? (that should be 250 milivolts.)

I was having the problem before on the old BIOS and I thought upgrading would solve the problem, but it hasnt thanks though

Vcore would be my first bet if you have having stability issues. I don't remember what Asus calls it (or if it is the same on AMD based boards) but it should be the first voltage listed. It will be somewhere around 1.2ish volts by default most likely (basing on my Intel experience, AMD may be higher or lower).

Also, have you tried a memtest? That may cause system freezes also. (lets chase the CPU idea first, as it is quicker to diagnose).

I shall have a look for that in the bios, I have ran memtest86 for around 30 hours on this system trying to diagnose this problem, my RAM came up with an error, I have now switched the RAM out for QVL listed RAM and memtest86 has ran for 8 hours today perfectly stable with 0 errors

Okay, if you have ran memtest without errors, then it is very unlikely that could be the issue.  We will limit our search to electrical delivery and BIOS settings for now.

I have tried adjusting the VCore, still problems, however I have noticed when the screen freezes it is the CPU/NB voltage that drops to .1 volts

Okay, this may very well be an important discovery.   Do you have another mouse that you can use to test? If so, try the different mouse and see if you can replicate the freezing. (That will tell us if it is your Razer mouse or a mouse itself).

Also, try navigating away from the voltage page using the keyboard instead of the mouse. This will help determine if it is moving off the page, or the mouse doing so that is causing the issue.

As for the vCore and North Bridge voltage dropping, I am not sure if that would be a BIOS issue, or an issue in power delivery.   Try upping the Load Line Calibration to the maximum setting and see if it still drops. (This should force the system into using a constant voltage no matter the load, and help to determine if the issue is in the BIOS power settings or the hardware be it the Motherboard or PSU.)

This is very strange but I have just plugged in a cheap gigabyte mouse and that mouse seems to be working fine, allowing me to use the bios as normal, the keyboard is also fine. I will see if I can follow your steps to solve the voltage drop

One thing at a time though. We have solved the freezing issue, yes?

If so, is the voltage still dropping on exiting that screen? If not, then there is no need to mess with the LLC. If it is, then continue to test with the LLC.

(Also if it helps, the mouse issue is common on Asus motherboards. Or rather issues in UEFI with high DPI mice is common. It took until the very latest BIOS update to get one that allows my M90 to work in the BIOS. Before it would not move at all. But I still use the keyboard as it is easier for me.).

I have just upped the llc to high settings, and then went on to cycle through the bios quickly with my keyboard, this would cause the voltage screen to show some of the values quicking going into red and then correcting themselves however after a minute of doing this the screen froze again

hmm... it is probably a hardware issue then, not a BIOS issue.

Have you tried reseating the power connectors (the EPS and ATX power)?  If not, try that and test.  If you have, have you reseated the CPU yet? If not, reseat the CPU and test.

Does it always artifact at the top when it freezes? If so, we may have been chasing the wrong part. Artifacting is almost always the GPU.

And most of those voltages look okay. I can't comment on Northbridge, Southbridge, or HT voltages as I have no experience with them, but everything else looks fine (or at least within specs).

It can always be the PSU, but if it powers up, and supplies the correct voltages than I would try testing the motherboard farther before jumping to the PSU as the issue.

I take it you do not have either another PSU or Motherboard to test, do you?

This friend I have been talking about will be coming around with his PSU in a bit, I do have another but it isn't modular and having to rewire everything would just be very inconvenient, I have already asked Amazon for another Motherboard to be sent out to me as I thought that the RAM problem was being caused by the slots, my PSU also is in the time frame to be returned if necessary
