3070 overkill?

Im now running with a gtx 1070 with intel i5-12400f and 16gb ram in 1080p, gonna get a new gpu this black friday and im wondering if im gonna go for the 3060 ti or the 3070, games i play most is forza, cod, bf2042. 

Will the 3070 be an overkill and waste of money or will it be just perfect or even better? thinking the 3070 is futureproof for 1440p monitor for later occasions

3070 for sure if ur going 1440p at a later date 

3070 is a pretty even match to my 2080ti which has been killing it at 1440p

Wouldnt even consider it close to overkill for any res thats logical.
I use a 3090 for 1080p. Only way to get good frames in cod and 2042. Does ok on 1440 on an older cod.
