Hi everyone,

Need some help regarding extension cables mainly for the gpu. Back story-I have an MSI SUPRIMX RTX 3080 12GB & my PSU is a Phantex 1000W. Recently I bought an ezdiy-fab cable extensions kit. So on the end of the 6+2 PCIE Extention cable which goes to the gpu has a slight difference in on of the notch/square things. The end which attaches to the original PSU cable is OK. As the picture's show it's only in one connector that's the issue.

Now the problem is all the extension cables(6+2 PCIE) have the same issue. Is this something normal? Or is there some special extension cable for these GPU's? I did ask this from a local  PC repair shop & he said all his extention cables are the same too & said to give it a try as long as it can go in (no pun intended 😏)  Pls note that it's the mirror effect when you plug the cables to the GPU, before you say I have it confused😅IMG_20221109_203159.thumb.jpg.d1d1792e9deff42806117ddb926faeb5.jpgIMG_20221109_204004.thumb.jpg.6d8d4b1c702f9e359ae83e58615820e6.jpg

I’d get some cables from cable mod and not mess with extensions personally.

Never really looked and compared the ends on mine. I just get the cable and plug it in. Normally my psu's arent supported to get custom cables. Gonna look the same way most likely.

to be 100% you need to probe the cables and a pin out. if its just an extension off the psu cables as long as the pins are the same should not matter if its a replacement cable for the psu then ya you would need to do some work...

I think it might be a UK thing🙄.The most frustrating part is Phanteks itself has cable extension kits but only have 2 PCIE 6+2 cables & I need 3 for this beast, but for the black/white theme I can't find any single 6+2 cables. So literally I have to buy 2 whole kits just so I can have 3 cables(6+2). The full kits that do have 3 PCIE 6+2 cables have the same issue with the notch. Modern day problems🙈😂

I just look if the cables match, so it will also work, because if this cable connects to your original PCIe cable then there should be no issues. If the extension cable plugs into the PSU itself then you need to check if it's the same like your original cable.
