3070 vs 6800

Go to solution Solved by cbiscuit456,

I would stick to the Nvidia card purely for the features and encoders. As well as a laundry list of other great features. As before mentioned by other users, you are giving up a lot for a small increase in performance. Not worth it. Glhf

Hi i was wondering i have a msi rtx 3070 gaming x trio  and was wondering about it 8gb vram i have the possibility to swap to rx 6800 phantom gaming not the xt version but still i heard is stronger than 3070 anyway i am not some heavy gamer from time to time i play some games ,like them to work as best possible having for now 1080p still but thinking to take 1440p soon is it wise to stay on the 3070 or better to upgrade it to 6800? So i don't need to worry for next 4years thats my goal

the upgrade isn't going to be a whole lot but it will be a tiny bit better. I think your 3070 will do fine if you don't game that often. I do have the 6800 and am pretty happy with it but i could probably be happy with less as well.

I am just worring about the 8gb vram will it be enough for next 4 years

If you don't care about NVENC, DLSS, Cuda/OptiX. Do it.

8GB on 3070/3060 TI was planned obsolescence by Nvidia.

It is enough untill its not enough. There is zero reason to spend 400 dollars to sidegrade today when you.
Are you happy with your performance now? if so you are fine.
6800 wont last any longer in terms of viability then the 3070.
