i7-12700kf bottleneck?

Go to solution Solved by Alinz,

Almost all high end cards will be bottlenecked by a CPU at 1080p, and I would say, it is probably not that bad based on your mix of 4k and 1080p gaming.

Picking a diffirent CPU will most likely not change the outcome that much, as you will still have a bit of a bottleneck at 1080p

Hi everyone, looking to buy a pc very soon for a mix of 1080p and 4k gaming. I want to go with the 12700kf probably overclocked and the 3080ti just for the extra bit of power for flight simulator in 4k when I get to use the tv and when I upgrade my monitor later on.

I will be playing a lot of 1080p though but according to this website there will be some huge bottlenecking going on.

The scs software games I play such as American and euro truck simulator require strong single core performance, and are pretty cpu bound at 1080p I believe. So these articles by pcbuilds.com concern me.

Would the 3080ti be hugely bottlenecked by the 12700kf at 1080p?

Links below, thanks if you can help

Ok thanks, I forgot to mention I will be using in game 400% upscaling and probably some sort of msaa in nvidia control panel. Would that bring the gpu back into play more or be the same?

The harder the GPU has to work the less bottlenecked you will be is my general understanding, I could be wrong tho (only general knowledge here)

If your card produces lesser frames your CPU will have a bit more breathing room, thats why you wouldnt be bottlenecked at 1440p for instance

Ah right, now I actually understand the basic concept of it. Thanks for your help
