I just wanted to know if this Sapphire Nitro is an actual "Rx 580", I know that this is the 2048 version, so it's basically an oc'd Rx 570, but the Gpu is Ellesmere, and it similarly looks like the Sapphire Rx 470. Just wanted to know whether this actually is a "Rx 580 2048"

480 is a "perfect" die, 470 is "near perfect". 580 is 480 refresh, 570 is 470 refresh, and 590 is binned 580. you would need to look into the gpu-z to find the transistor counts and such. based on the core and mem frequency: it IS sufficient to be ellsemere and be an x80 card. my 480 special bin from XFX runs 1355 core and 2110 mem without breakinga sweat at 125W

Where did you but this RX-580 "2048SP Edition" from?

The RX-580 2048SP Edition is a legit card. It is basically.... A RX-570 / RX-470 "renamed" as a RX-580 2048SP. However, it was a China-only exclusive card. It was targeted for internet cafes, etc. It was never made available, retail, for Canada/USA/Mexico, EU, etc. Only China/Chinese market.

So I think I know that there's 2 type's of gpu for the rx 400 and 500 series, would like to know whethere or not ellesmere is better than polaris 20.

or maybe the other way round.

RX-400 series is Ellesmere, but both RX-400 and RX-500 are part of the Polaris....design... and both using the GCN 4.0 architecture.

RX-400 series = Ellesmere

>> RX-480 = Polaris 10 XT

>> RX-470 = Polaris 10 PRO

RX-500 series = Polaris 20

>> RX-580 = Polaris 20 XTX

>> RX-570 = RX-580 2048SP = Polaris 20 XL

RX-590 is actually Polaris 30 >> Polaris 30 XT

It is basically either a RX-570 or RX-470.

The RX-580 2048SP is essentially a "re-branded" or "internet cafe edition" RX-570/470. It is not a full RX-580 chip because it does not have 2304 SP Cores.

...if you bothered to click on the TechPowerUp GPU database links and the Gamers Nexus review/analysis of a RX-580 2048SP I've included..
