(sorry for my bad englisch)

hello i have a pc with a ryzen 5 2600,gtx 1060 6gb, 16gb of ram and a 256 gb ssd.

my hard drive is strange tho its a toshiba 1tb hard drive and its acting weird.

when i got a faster internet connection i could never download at full speed (60 mbs) it always crashed down to 5 mbs (steam).

when installing a game on my ps5 it went perfectly fine.

about 2 months later and i tried installing resident evil 7 from steam and it went fine always downloading at 60 mbs.

so i tried downloading a diffrent game and it went fine again thenn a another game and then the crash happened.

wenn i try to install a game on epic games tho i always have a 50-60 mbs download speed.

is my hard drive slow, broken or is it just steam can some one please explain

If your internet speed is for example 20 MB/s but steam can only send you the game/files at 10 MB/s you will download at 10 MB/s,

that's why some games download faster, that's why the download speed is always different when it's a different thing.

Do you have enough space on disk for the games?

Are you doing anything else while installing games?

If you want to check the disk, there is a command for it, but it can take up to 5 hours to check the disk.

If I didn't answer all questions tell me, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

As a system drive a regular hard drive is slow. And age just makes it worse.

You can check the drive health with Hard Disk Sentinel and CrystalDiskInfo.

And you can measure your Hard Drive read and write speeds with CrystalDiskMark and HDTune.

Also, if your Internet speed is 60Mbps (mega bits per second), translated to MBps that is 7.5 MBps or 7 MB/s ,a theoretical limit which would translate to ~5-6MBps.

There is one way to check the disks with cmd (no install needed),

chkdsk is the cmd command, but bare in mind that it can take hours to finish.
