Dead ram slot

Go to solution Solved by bmx6454,

more info may be helpful, such as specs, and things you have tried so far. is it only with one particular stick of ram, or any stick? if you haven't already, try blowing out the ram slot with a little compressed air, look for any debris in it, or any bent pins. also, try pulling the cpu, checking for any bent pins on the cpu or socket(depending on amd/intel), and reinserting it.

Hi friends! So wanted to ask for help. I got a dead ram slot and the pc wont post  if a put my ram in it.

Im using the secundary dual channel but i know is not ideal. Is there anything i can do to switch the primary dual channel for the second?

To be more specificl is the 2nd slot in the primary dual channel that is dead. I trid swiching the sticks and they work on hte other slot. Is just that 1 slot that wont work

I got an i5 9600k. Z370 Msi motherboard, 2 8gb sticks of ram 2400hz. a 2070 Rtx.

And a 700 whatt power suply

I thank any advice

I checked the cpu, everything looked fine, pins are ok. Put it back and somehow now the slot works! Thanks friend!

probably a dirty/poor connection on the pins/socket in part of the cpu that deals with ram, glad it worked.
