Hi,

I am thinking about upgrading from a r5 2600x to a r7 5700x

I Have a Rx6600xt

case, fans, cpu cooler is all overkill so no problems with heat (55c on CPU and GPU will gaming )

I've got gskill 3600mhz ram running @3200 MHz right now because the 2600x won't run it at 3600mhz

so I'm thinking about upgrading for future games who will use multicore more and more and well I'm not going to jump to am5 just yet

what do you guys think ?

IS my cpu bottlenecking my gpu slightly?

Budget?  It's kind of important.

5700x is a good upgrade over the 2600x in general, yes.

not if you’re running 4K or probably even 1440p, but at high refresh rates in CPU intensive games yes your CPU is bottlenecking your GPU. I would upgrade the CPU to at least a 5600(x), a 5700x is a pretty good choice.

I'd suggest going with the 5600x and keep the rest of your money. That cpu is fantastic for gaming.

While it is true that multicore is being used more and more in games, for the next few years the 5600x should be just fine.

I've thought about the 5600x but there is a very little price difference for that 2 extra cores I think it's worth it
