I do plan on going sli in the near future was looking at the corsair tx750m is it a decent psu and not loud like a jet engine

My recommendation is the EVGA Supernova 750 G2 for $119.99 or $104.99 after MIR. http://www.ncix.com/detail/evga-supernova-750-g2-80-f0-94405-1070.htm?affiliateid=7474144

It's a excellent, high-end unit that is at an great price. It's among one of the best PSU on the market atm and offer a 10 year warranty (registration is required).

The XFX XTR 750w may be a good option if you can get it for less than the EVGA. It's a Seasonic G unit internally with full modularity, a better, quieter FDB fan than the Seasonic unit unit and the other XFX units in that wattage range.

Will that supernova fit in my case

This is your Corsair 540D case, correct? If so, then, yes. It should fit in it, as your case allows for PSU up to 200mm in length, and the 750G2 is a 180mm PSU.

Btw, don't mistake the Supernova 750w G2 for the EVGA NEX750G. They are two different units, where the NEX is an inferior unit.

That PSU conformed to the ATX standard (like the XFX you had), in which the width and height of it is 150mm x 86mm. The length of the PSU should be the only thing you need to worry about.

use this calculator to determine what size PSU you need and go from there. This is really accurate because I have a watt meter and it was only off by ~15 watts but it was close.

Also, to get the best efficiency it has to be 60% of the Full watts the PSU uses just so you know

so lets say you have a 650w PSU, the efficiency curve will be 390w that you should use, but you can use more than that if you want to but you will use more watts thus have lower efficiency

Edit: I would get a EVGA power supply if you can because those are one of the most reliable PSUs you can get and has a 10 year warranty
