Budget (including currency): £2000. This doesn't necessarily mean I want to spend £2000 but that is the hard cap.

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: First and foremost gaming. This will be a personal all rounder rig but it's primary focus will be gaming. Everything from Minecraft, Sanctuary Black RPG, all the way up to Horizon Zero Dawn, and Death Stranding. As I said it will be a mixed use PC, this includes, streaming, video editing, C4D, etc. I'm not concerned about getting the ultra maximum performance in these use cases, just something that can reasonably take it within it's stride.

Monitors: I have 1 with the intention to add a second in the near future. My current monitor is an Asus tuf gaming VG27A 2560x1440 165Hz. My second monitor will likely be similar in spec, 1440p 120Hz+.

Other details:

  • I have 0 parts, I'm not 100% confident in choosing the best bang for my buck so. that's why I came straight here. I am bringing over 2 HDDs from my previous PC, wouldn't mind an M.2 for gaming and some other form of SSD for the OS alone (and a few of those awkward programs that don't allow instillation outside of the C: drive)
  • I need everything except M+K, monitor, and, OS. My current setup is the i7 8700K, GTX 1060 6B, it can still play games and handles other tasks reasonably but it's starting to show it's age when playing "newer releases such as Death Stranding. If I wanted to just play the game I'd get it on console but I want to crank those settings to the max while on PC.
  • I'm going to buy it within the next 7 days.
  • Minimum gaming performance: 1440p 60fps 60Hz.
  • I will need dust filters on any case suggested as the current environment is not the best for air cooling a PC and the situation is extremely unlikely to change for the foreseeable future.
  • I don't much care about RGB or windows to see inside. A slot for a side mounted fan would be nice as I plan on cooling from the bottom up (bottom intake, top exhaust), so a side hole for an extra fan to introduce at least a touch fresh would be nice
  • I don't plan on using the onboard graphics, I don't need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth would be a nice QoL thing but I'm not willing to spend more for it
  • Ideally a case with 10 USBs (6in back, 4 on front/top), a nice QoL would be a USB-C port but, again, I'm not willing to spend more for this.
  • I'm considering using an AIO for CPU cooling this time round but this is a cool but not necessary idea, noise isn't a huge concern.

I think I've covered everything that comes to mind, Any further questions I will answer as quickly as I can but I do work all day. It would make my life easier if you could compile it into a PC part picker list, so I can guarantee it's the right part and I can find the best price.

Thank you guys. I look forward to hearing the suggestions.

Why don't you just buy better gpu, i think that cpu is good enough. Or if you really want to upgrade maybe ryzen 7 5800x3d would be good for your needs..

That's what I was thinking, however the CPU isn't exactly the newest species, not sure about 1440p but on 1080p on this CPU and better GPU would be enough for 60fps on Death Stranding, but don't quote me on that I don't have proof I just think it's possible to get 60 fps

Feel free: To ask any question, no matter what question it is, I will try to answer. I know a lot about PCs but not everything.

current PC:

Ryzen 5 5600 |16GB DDR4 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti [further details on my profile]

PC configs I used before:

  1. Pentium G4500 | 4GB/8GB DDR4 2133Mhz | H110 | GTX 1050
  2. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz / OC:4Ghz | 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz / 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1050
  3. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz | 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti

If you want to play games in higher resolution, than cpu metters less than if you want to play in 1080p . So my advice would be just to buy realy good gpu like rx6800 and everything will work great, but if you decide that you want better cpu you can always upgrade that after.. 🙂

Sorry about the delayed replies I'm currently sick and it's kind of a chore to get out of bed. The reason I'm looking for a new build and not upgrade paths is because I plan on gifting my current PC to a younger member of my family after a thorough cleaning and refresh. He has a laptop, slightly 'better' than a chromebook, and is extremely unlikely to ever receive a "proper" desktop PC.

You guys could likely build him a very good one on a lower budget but I thought I'd take the opportunity to upgrade myself.

Thank you for the suggestions and tasking the time to reply but I stand by asking for a brand new build.

Thank you
