Issue with mapped drives in different programs

Go to solution Solved by Kid.Lazer,

There are various ways to handle this, but the crux of the issue is that the drive was mapped in a user space, but not in a administrator space. (or vice versa)

The easiest fix is to enable linked connections in the registry, which will allow your administrator programs to access mapped drives that were created without administrator access.

Paste this into notepad, save as .reg file, then run the file to merge into your registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

"EnableLinkedConnections"=dword:00000001

Hello!

So i recently reinstalled windows 10 on my main PC and i've run into a problem where if i try to choose my mapped network drive as a destination, for example if i want to use it for OBS it will not show up. It does however show up and works fine in windows file explorer for general usage (i can copy files to and from it just fine)

I remember having this issue before but i dont remember how i fixed it. Anyone got some clues on what to do?

Is it mapped as a network shared folder, or a shared drive?

Alright yeah that seems to be it, cheers.

Is there something i can do so i dont have to change the registry in the future?

As far as I'm aware, the only other fix is to map the drive a second time as an administrator, but that's too cumbersome for me. I just keep that registry file backed up for future installs that may need it.
