GPU not displaying on new PC

1. hey i have quick PC question i was building a PC for my buddy got done with everything but it wouldnt detect his 3060 on HDMI so i plugged in my GPU and put it on DVI and it was detecting but still not working for HDMI i used known good cables but i just cant figure out what is wrong with it other than maybe a dead GPU

if it works on dvi then install windows and boot into the os and try activating another hdmi monitor from there

Wait, you got a display from the 3060 or your GPU on DVI? What Motherboard?

 

Could be anything from a driver issue, broken hdmi port on the GPU (very rare) or a bad cable.
