Planning to install ssd in alienware x51

duemaster

hi all, currently using alienware x51r1.

Hoping to install an ssd into the pc. Saw online that is it is possible to do so by placing the ssd on the disk drive. I was wondering if the ssd will get damage by being so close to the disk drive.

It's fine. Ssd's are much less fragile than traditional hdd's.

SSDs are shock resistant (not shock proof) so it should be perfectly fine.  Although, I wouldn't Alienware PCs are for people who want something that works, and the x51 is super small and I would not suggest upgrading it.  There may not be any more sata ports or sata power connectors on the psu and mobo left.

Altough it's not that recommended to place it on the HDD itself because the vibration, it is still possible.

So is it safe to place the ssd near or on the dvd drive itself while the computer is running?

You can put the ssd pretty much anywhere, since it has no moving parts, but do check if your motherboard has another SATA port, and you have a sata power connector, or a molex connector on your psu. (if only a molex, you will need to buy a converter

Yes, that's what we've been saying.
