 i wana buy dayz but idk anything about it. shhould i get the arma 2 mod or the beta game on steam? i like the look of the one kyr speedy plays

Beta, ARMA2 has a lot of problems even joining servers

I personally say DayZ Standalone.

They both have their problems, but it's just a personal preference.

I would buy Arma 2 seeing as how its on sale for like 4 dollars. And get the Alpha if you really want to get into DayZ

in order to play the mod you need Arma 2 and OA and the Standalone is not a beta it's actually a very early alpha however having played bot a fair bit i say standalone even though it's really broken it will be getting a larger community over time and will be updated more

DayZ Mod requires Arma2 and Arma2 Operation Arrowhead. There are numerous spinoff mods, and the community is still there.

DayZ Standalone is the standalone game available on Steam. It's in Alpha right now, not beta. It's currently broken all to hell and the devs are focusing on adding new impressive sounding features to the game rather than fixing the broken ones. I have no faith they will add working features to the game based on their current track record of breaking everything. Despite this, they've torn the engine down and improved some things about the game. The inventory system is great, and you can shoot while walking (better than it sounds). The guns and objects look awesome. The animations are far better than the mod.

 

My recommendation would be to avoid DayZ standalone for a few months at least. It will be the same price later on, and hopefully there will be more features and fixes.

Arma2/OA is cheap but it's probably still not worth buying to play the Mod alone.
