Is 95% isopropyl alcohol enough for cleaning thermal paste off of a cpu and a gpu?

 

I can't find a 99% one.

Yeah it should be fine.

i use 91% all the time, it's fine. as long as it dries up completely(which should be quick).

Anything over 90% is fine.

 

Sometimes going right for the alcohol makes an even bigger mess. Try scrubbing the old compound off with a dry paper towel over a trash can first. If it's dried-up enough, it might crumble off and leave relatively little residue behind (which you can then clean up with alcohol and a fresh paper towel).

I've used hand sanitizer to clean thermal paste on old parts in a pinch. Very not smart but I surprisingly didn't run into issues with residue or corrosion.

Everclear will probably do the trick too....
