This is kind of a broad, somewhat open set  of questions (hence General Discussion), probably without a right answer.  If you had/have a streaming setup for gaming (i.e. stream to Twitch, Youtube, etc.) what do you consider the best compute/gaming/encode setup and how much does it depend on the game being played?  Example, if a game is primarily CPU-bound, do you proactively switch streaming codecs (example a GPU or nVidia specific codec vs x264)? Does it matter?  Do you prefer having a single GPU? Separate GPU for streaming/encoding specifically? Separate computer entirely?

I already know it's going to be generally subjective.  Looking for opinions, situational-dependent setups/observations, etc.

Streaming is done with software and to website. As codecs are software dependent, this would be the correct subforum.

I suppose that's valid.  I was wrestling with the question of do we still consider hardware-specific codecs such as nvenc as Program or GPU-related but I guess it's all software.
