How does this look for a mini-ITX build for school and light gaming? Please don't suggest AMD because I can't deal with the heat output of a 760K or A10.

Yeah, that's true, I already have the U9B. Funny because I clicked the link to your build but it says $1207 total instead of 1098.90. Those vendors are all on my preferred list.

Can't say the same for the other build, that one is also $1200+.

I picked the 250D because it's easy to build in, but if the CM Elite is also easy to build in I'll gladly save the money. Same for the Gigabyte board; I've heard some bad things about it and the Asrock one seems better cooled.

Are you sure about the EVGA 500B PSU?

I think I'm the only one factoring in the 5%+7% sales tax here in Vancouver. Sorry I didn't tell you guys.

Anyways I fixed it up and now it's $970 and will be $1000 after I factor in the shipping fee for the 4670K from Canada Computers.

I thought it would be kinda hard to build in a mITX case with a fully cabled power supply.

Sorry man,

1) gotta stay under $1100 with sales tax (12%)

2) I don't think I need a 770. Maybe I'll step up to a R9 270 or R7 265, thanks for the tip on the 260X tho

3) refuse to deal with non-modular cables in a mini-itx box

4) cannot live with a barracuda's slow response times and super slow bootup, will step up to a seagate SSHD as in my build

I'll revise my build.

I left the 550W G series in there for future upgrades; I could probably make do with a G series 450W.

I'm a bit iffy about bronze + modular, but the CX500M is a nice one. Not so sure about the strider plus though; TPU gave it a terrible score. If you're sure about it, then that's a good few bucks saved.

Again, the Ballistix Sport is a single channel kit and is more expensive than the Vengeance. Also don't know if my U9B will clear the Ballistix's heatspreader. PCPartpicker told me that Haswell would only take 1.5V or under, so the Vengeance LP kit is the cheapest while meeting that expectation. Not sure if 1.5< is really a requirement for haswell. The Barracuda is not for me.

That's a much improved and better build. Combining everyone's suggestions into a new build is quite smart :D. The only thing that I would change is the GPU. You should up it to a R9 270/270X. It'd make for one awesome build with that one change in my opinion. :D

Get an ssd+barracuda, you will get great boot times and storage for less money.

And you don't need 1.5v memory for haswell although it is recommended.

Main PC:

ASUS F1A55-M LX, AMD A6-3500, (2x2)gb Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600mhz, Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm,

Netbook:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, Intel Atom N280, (1x1)gb DDR2 667mhz, WD Scorpio Blue 250gb 5400rpm, Zorin OS 9 Lite
