Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has a CODE keyboard or uses cherry MX clears.

Currently I have a Quickfire TK and I love it, but I miss having a full 104 key keyboard. I'm thinking about getting either a quickfire ultimate, a ducky shine 3 or the CODE keyboard. I've had my eye on the CODE and I like the white back lighting, but I'm unfamiliar with the clears and I was wondering if anyone has had any typing experience with them?

Clear Switches are less Clicky than Blue Switches. They have a 5cn higher actuation force requirement than Blue Switches making them a little harder to press down. Using them feels like typing on a rubber dome keyboard.

If your primary purpose is gaming, stick with the Blue Switches. Go for Browns for less noise and Reds for faster response time.

Hope it helps! :)

Clear switches aren't clicky at all, they only have a larger tactile bump than browns. Yes, their actuation force is higher - around that of a rubber dome keyboard, but this doesn't mean typing on one feels the same.

I don't care for blue switches when gaming because the reset point is further from the actuation point than other switches. Other switches would be quieter than blues, but they still make quite a bit of noise when bottoming out - something you're likely to be doing while gaming. Reds have a lower actuation force, if that's what you meant by response time.

My CODE with clears should arrive in a couple days.

Thanks for the info.! I haven't used clear switch keyboards in such a long time, that I forgot much about them.

Me neither, but OP has been using Quickfire TK and is used to Blue Switches. Every switch makes noise if you press them hard enough! xD In my experience Double/ Triple Tapping Reds is much easier than any other Switch.

Thanks everyone!

I play game but honestly I can't think of anything where I need to double/triple tap a key really quick (my MOBA days are behind me) so I'm not too concerned in regards to that. I'm looking for a nice pleasant typing experience.

Thanks for the review "cae" it was nice to see some impressions on the keyboard, I still don't know what I'm going to end up choosing, I'll make an update when I've decided.

I would definitely say that Clears have been the best typing experience for me. Exactly how mechanical switches should work - actuated with limited travel with noticeable feedback so you don't bottom out. The larger bump and heavier spring make it feel heavier than a Black to me. It's the quietest mechanical board I've used. If I lift my finger off after pressing a key (not following it back up), some of the switches will have a metallic ping. I'm not sure, but I think that'd be attributed to the spring used. Some people swap their Clear springs for slightly lighter ones and I think I'm beginning to see why. That's quite the endeavor when I'm mostly pleased with the switch the way it is. I want to live with the CODE for a while before deciding to make any modifications or not.
