Hey guys,

I just emptied my water loop and wanted to move my GPU from a vertical to a horizontal position. When I removed the GPU, I noticed that the plastic cover on one side was very loose. After I flipped the GPU over to install it horizontally, the entire cover came off.

Is there any way to properly reattach these broken plastic connections?

Can I use hot glue for example?

EDIT: With something like glue I am of course afraid that the whole thing goes up in flames because these things are easily flammable.

hope someone can help 🙂

There are specific “melt” style glues for various plastics that do a really amazing job. They can be quite specific though.  For instance pvc has one that is commonly used by plumbers.  There are others though. It’s basically those and epoxy.  They kick all over epoxy though generally.  The downside of a beyond simple bond though so they’re really permanent.  There literally isn’t a crack to reopen anymore. they actually make the things one piece.  Chemical welding. You’re probably looking for the one used on display cases and fish tanks. The type of plastic is critical though because it’s a chemical process. “Model glue” is the one for styrene and it does NOT work on plumbing pipes.  Like not at all.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

So, how many of the plastic stands were broken off?  Just one?  Or more?

If it's just one, the other 3 should hold on just fine.  If multiple?  Well, that's a different story.

one possible option would be to 3D Print a replacement standoff, cut off the broken standoff, and superglue that directly to the plastic housing.  (But that would require some work on your part.)
