Two new build ideas

The first one isn't great, you won't be able to OC your 12600K much with a basic B660 board

And the 6700XT is faster than the 3060, so I'd prefer the second build, but a beefier 650W PSU would be recommended (EVGA G5 for example is cheap)

System : AMD R9 5900X / Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO/ 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance 3600CL18 ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Eisbaer 280mm AIO (with 2xArctic P14 fans) / 2TB Crucial T500  NVme + 2TB WD SN850 NVme + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD drives/ Corsair RM850x PSU/  Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / Logitech G915TKL keyboard (wireless) / Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

would a MSI MAG B660M MORTAR be a better option for the intel one?

Please post the permalinks (above the build list).

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

A bit better board but still a B660 so only limited OC, MSI BIOS allows some but then your mid range cooler will suffer a bit

If you want a "good" system you have to get a more expensive Z690 board and bigger cooler, like this (£1200 without Windows):

PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/T4LFC6

CPU: Intel Core i5-12600KF 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor  (£263.99 @ Technextday)
CPU Cooler: Deepcool AK620 68.99 CFM CPU Cooler  (£55.00 @ Computer Orbit)
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard  (£183.48 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  (£55.49 @ Box Limited)
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN570 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  (£71.98 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB Speedster SWFT 309 Video Card  (£451.42 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case  (£70.48 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply: EVGA G5 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  (£59.99 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £1211.83

The reason to get a 12600k instead of non k is because the non k 12600 doesn't have ecores, so you don't need to overclock

Yeah, the 12600 non K is a scam, only a slightly better 12400

But a K skew needs a good cooler and a Z690 board due to Intel's market segmenting, bad efficiency and absurd limitations 🙂

About what id reccommend

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/8PM4PX

For editing which I'll assume it's video editing, the 12700f is a good cpu for the task

Good cooler that matches up with the NH d15

Good board for the price

Cheapest kit of 32gb ram

Good 1tb storage

6800xt which is a great improvement over a 3060

Good case on sale and a good 850 watt psu
