IIRC 3070 is significantly faster than 6700XT

The 6700 XT is in 3060 Ti territory. The 3070 is significantly faster. If value/price per frame is important to you, you'll have to check around at prices. NVIDIA cards carry a premium.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

The 3070 is better than 6700xt but cost usually $100 more
