Thought about upgrading my pc a bit

And I came across a 2080 AORUS Xtreme for 493 bucks

I already have a 2080 AORUS non Xtreme and a 850w psu

If I can get this dude to 435 bucks or even 406 bucks, is it worth it?

I know SLI doesn't scale really well on all games but it looks like a nice deal

Also, will there be a problem pairing an xtreme aorus card and a non xtreme aorus card? since they have a different clock speed maybe it'll be a problem?

The only cards that I'm willing to upgrade my 2080 to is 2080Ti or 3080 12gb

2080Tis go for 670 bucks and more and no one wants to trade cards since they all upgrade...

And 3080 cards here go for 1300-1400 bucks new and 900 bucks used

Don't do SLI, the 2080 SLI is in almost all cases of gaming slower than an RTX 2080 TI so basically anything is a better investment than that.

Unless you are doing some form of editing/... where you need those cores and SLI actually scales well.

EDIT: here's some benchmarks I found

I did SLI with GTX 1080 tis that were about the same power as the 2080.

Over time it got to be a pain to use and for its last year of life it was productivity only.

The setup was replaced with a single 2080 ti.

That is one of the reasons it became a pain to use.

Remembering when to switch it off.

Not a chance.

This is the classic case we've had forever where years after your GPU's release you think adding a second one is a worthwhile "upgrade" when in reality, its the worst thing you can do. This is even more relevant now given how dead SLI is in modern games, you'd essentially be throwing that $400 away.

If you are willing to spend $400, sell your current 2080 and buy a 3080 for an actual improvement.

Or better yet just hang on as prices are continuing to drop on the current gen up until Ada/RDNA3 releases.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

Sli has been officially dead for years and hasn't gotten a single new game that supports it in that time. Due to abandoned development it is also functioning worse and worse on games that do support it. Then of the games that do support it only a small amount actually support it properly without issues or almost no performance gain.

So is it worth it?

You might as well just burn your money it's absolutly not worth it in any way shape or form.

If ill upgrade it wont be to a new gpu

They are mad expensive and not worth the money in my opinion

Cheapest 3080 12GB in my country is 1350 bucks....

There is also a 10GB 2 fan version for 1140 bucks....

I'm just waiting for Lovelace to release

If this time the stock will be good ill actually be able to buy a used 3080TI or even 3090 for very cheap and ill just give the 2080 to my brother and sell his 1080
