Hey guys, so I am building my first pc (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3sZCE) and I think I am finished, connected most to all the cables, have everything installed but my computer just won't boot.

The fans don't spin, there are no lights from the case and inside the computer and no sign of power.

What things should I do/check if my computer isn't receiving power?

(The only cable I have connected to my wall is the power supply cable.)

:) Please help :(

Damn, that sucks. If NOTHING is happening then it's either the PSU, motherboard, or CPU. Make sure everything is plugged in and connected properly, and sacrifice a goat to GabeN. Good luck dude!

Ok lets start with the basics.

Is your power supply flipped to I

Is your CPU power cable plugged in?

Yes, it is on I.

I don't think I have a CPU power cable plugged in, how does it look like? Where do I plug it to? The only cpu cable I have plugged is the fan.

Did you flip the switch to on? It looks like this "I" on the back of the PSU.

I did.

Any cable in particular I should check?

Did you remember to ground yourself

Was that a joke? lmao don't get it.                                 Not in the mood at all :)

Lol you'd have to have a pretty crazy CPU to turn on without power.

And grounding yourself refers to touching something metal to discharge static, because if you shock any unshielded pc component, it's dead.

ok there should be a 4 or 8 pin plug somewhere on the motherboard, this is an example of a 4 pin

Btw, people always say don't work on carpet, does that mean I shouldn't put my computer on a carpet or not to stand on a carpet while working on my pc :o

Might be best if you can take a photo of your PC and post it here so we may be able to spot if you've missed a cable or not.

your cpu cable is plugged in from the first picture so that's out of the question.

Can you take a close up of your power switch/reset connectors plugged in?

They're the ones usually located in the bottom right corner, below the SATA connectors, and yes most of them are individual wires.

They should say stuff like Power SW (Power Switch) should all be labeled and like he said.
