Question about different types of chargers.

Hey all, sorry if this is all a bit convoluted. I've been stuck in the rabbit hole of buying a new charger for quite sometime now. Everything I read from articles is either conflicting with one another or using terminology and explanations that are simply beyond my knowledge threshold.

Does more watts/volts/amps mean more charging speed? To my understanding, a phone, for example, plugged into a 40w charger will only draw the amount of wattage that the phone can accept. Plus, a lot of phones use proprietary methods of "fast charging". So, in this case, a 40w and a 12w would perform the same charging speed? Then there are different types of ports from what I've read. Needless to say, I'm beyond confused.

So, with those questions, could someone recommend a charger that will charge different brands of phones and tablets at the highest possible speed? Every time I think I've found a good brand or charger, I make the mistake of going through the rabbit hole of Amazon reviews and my brain breaks.

More amps / watts / volts does mean quicker charging IF the device is designed to handle it. Chargers do not force feed current (amps). They will only provide what the device asks for. So you can buy a charger that can output 4.0 amps at 5 volts, (20 watts), however if the device only "wants"  1 amp it will charge at 5 watts ( 1 amp x 5 volts = 5 watts).

You are correct that some technologies are unique to specific brands. It's probably easier if you ask for recommendations for a chargers based on your device and what you are trying to achieve.

Personally I still prefer to slow charge all my devices.

Also depends on the charger and phone. It may be 20W but it could be that it's only rated for 3.5A for the wiring, so if true type c: it could do 5v 3.5A 17.5W or 9v 2.22A 20W or 12v 1.65A 20W.

I see that you are looking for 'the last phone charger any one would need' however in reality this is harder to achieve than you would think, given the number of proprietry charging standards and highest charging speeds are a moving target.

The best way to go about is just tell us all the devices you have that you want to be charged at the best speed.

Very good point. To narrow it down to the important main devices would be Google Pixel 6 pro, Apple iPhone XR, Kindle tablet. I don't need to necessarily charge them at the same time, so if there's a single port option I'm all for it.

During my search I found these three,

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KRZFGM8?psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09G6B97M9?psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08T5QN2TR?psc=1

I just don't fully understand some of the functionality such as GaN ports, PD, PPS, AFC compatibility. Then there's the price differences. I imagine Anker your simply paying more for the brand recognition?

Anker you get a good name and a high quality product. I've been using RAVpower for a long time now, and they got caught boosting review numbers, but honestly they really didn't need to. They got impatient and a little greedy. I've got a handful of their type c Anker nano equivalent and they work superbly well, same with a 15k mAh power bank from them, also works like a charm.
