Recommendations for a new headset?

Go to solution Solved by NannerBeans,

The Zalman clips i could fine are onyl 10.99 USD.  Are they cheaply made?

They are cheap but they are very durable and sound great but you might need to boost the mic volume. I own one myself and it has never failed me. It's a backup now since I mostly use my PC360 but trying to sell those now.

If your onboard is bad then you should probably just get cheap usb headset and then save up for something better better because can't do anything at that price. There is a cheap $40 syba dac/amp that is pretty good so if you can expand your budget to $80 or $100 there are better headphones in that range.

Edit: For $80: Superlux headphones, Syba Dac/Amp, Zalman mic

For $100: Pioneer SE-A1000 instead of the superlux

Is there a problem with your onboard? The usb versions are usually worse because it is a terrible sound card on a usb. Pioneer SE-A1000 and a zalman clip on would be better than any headset. Sennheiser 439 is pretty good too for a closed option.

I'm using a laptop, and it has terrible onboard sound.  I've looked at external solutions but they are either too expensive or cheaply built.  The problem is is my mic on the headset, on skype calls my friends will tell me that my voice cuts out and the there is this high pitched background noise.  I've replaced my headset once, which was a temporary fix.  But now I will be saving up for a new pc.

Got the Logitech G430. It's above your budget but worth it I think! There is a USB sound card for virtual surround sound included, but also a cheaper version in red (the headset is green) without. It has a nice base and sounds nice overall. I have no complaints with it. But keep in mind that I'm not audiophile ;)

3570K @4.1GHz on a Gigabyte Z77X-D3H with 8GB of Corsair XMS3 overclocked to 2000MHz CL11 with a GTX 770 all inside a Corsair 600t case.
