NZXT H440 Case Design

Hi guys,

So I thought I would let you all know my thoughts on the very popular NZXT (cool brand name BTW) H440. Now I bet right after reading that first sentence you're thinking "Oh no, is this gonna be a rant?" And the answer to that question would be "Not quite". Whilst I love the aesthetics of the NZXT H440, no matter what colour you happen to get, I can't help but think that it kind of resembles the look of a (yep, you guessed it) fridge. Now don't get me wrong, it's a lovely case, beautiful in fact, but I have to ask NZXT where they got their design inspiration from.

Did they go through a catalog of fridges trying to find one that they could get ideas from? Who knows. But all I think of when I see the H440 is that it really looks like a refrigerator. This would more so be the case when looking at it front on. I may be completely and utterly wrong but it sure does seem like one.

Despite this, I do still find it quite an attractive case and could easily use it for my build this year if I end up changing my mind from the current case I've chosen. There are actually quite a number of things I like about the H440, like how the place where you install the PSU has it's own little hideaway place which is a great idea because it means that you can buy a PSU of any colour and it won't detract from the aesthetics of the case which is quite nice indeed. I also like the layout of the case inside. I think it's quite well designed in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what NZXT comes up with next. I feel that the next case they design is going to look just as good, if not even better, as the H440. Good on ya NZXT!

My conclusion about the H440 is that it is a very well designed case and despite my opinion of it's fridge-like design I still think it's I great choice for many gamers out there and even the casual gamer like myself.

i think its a sweat looking case and a good rival to the r4 im split on what to use in my next rig

It looks amazing and is well designed, but they missed the chance to make the case of the year with the dual 360 rad support issues.

I love the exterior, but hate the PSU cover with the giant NZXT logo on it. I dont know why, but it just erks me.

Yeah, that colour does seem to be quite popular. However, for me, I like the black/white colour. I just prefer it myself.

A lot of people seem to really like that feature, I guess I must be weird.

 

Its kind of like how I despise the trend automakers are taking to simply put a giant plastic cover over the engine, I would rather just spend the time to make the engine (PSU in this case) look nice.

The need to make the grey (maybe its black and im color blind) version in more colors though.

Hmm true. Everyone likes a good looking engine.......erm...I mean...PSU.

i had one and i found it to be adequate for a CPU/GPU loop or a 2x GPU air-cooled case.

2x GPU loop could be done, but some front panel mods are needed to allow more air into

the front of chassis (350D/750D issue).

could be a little claustrophobic on the build-up, but when finished it is pretty good. is it an

R4 "killer?" doubtful, but an option. the HDD rack is lacking, 6 HDD in 20" is a bit wasteful.

it is a new kid on the block, but seems the pricing is escalating more so than the R4.

to me it really isn't any quieter than 750D, Arc Midi, R4, with the same components installed.

but, lucky NZXT had the 'nads not to put a door on it (R4/550D) to make the fridge idea.
