3080 ftw3 or 3080 ti xc3 ?

noobbuilder

I just got the 3080 ftw3 ultra 12gb and haven't even installed it yet when i saw for not much more i can upgrade to the 3080ti xc3.

I read that the xc3 is hotter running and not as good of quality as ftw3. With that in mind is it still better to step up to the 3080ti xc3 ?

Im all about FPS but not at the expense of the card not lasting or is the xc3's still going to last just as long ? p.s. i dont usually overclock anything

thanks

Edit: It doesnt matter the step up program only gave me two options and they didnt include the xc3 only cards that are double what i paid ;(

The performance differences between the 3080 Ti and 3080 12G is pretty minimal to begin with, your not really gonna notice the 2-3% difference at most between these cards. The XC3 will run hotter (though still safe), and that's about it.

If the price difference was $20 and you didn't own any one of these cards I might consider the XC3, but since you've already got the Ftw3 I'd just use that.

I have a XC3 Ultra 3080 ti.

It is a 350 watt card and it is slightly cooler than your card.

The real issue with the EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti is that it seems power starved even at stock and that shows up a lot at 4k. My FTW3 3080 ti that is a 400 watt card on average produces 10 more frames.

Your 3080 is a 400 watt card so the only good upgrade is the FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti or 3090.

Unless you are planning to upgrade your CPU soon I would not go with a higher card. With the FTW3 3080 ti my Intel 6 cores were left behind.
