If you were originally going for a i5 4670K, definitely go for the 4770K since it will be around the same price and and the i7 4770K will give you boosted performances in most tasks.

It doesn't matter, I just want to know if it's worth it for the price.

well if the 4670k may still be cheaper and your only using it for gaming you still will be wasting money

i7 4770k's usually run for $300 while i5 4670k's usually run for $200 - outside of Microcenter that is. For $50 more and at that price range, then hell yes it's worth it. Damn it all, why do I not live by a Microcenter? WHY?!

Only in heavily multi threaded tasks like video editing or streaming and gaming, single thread performance is the same.

Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones lol.

The sad part is... the nearest Microcenter is around 443 miles. That's a 7 hour drive or 1 hour flight. It would cost more to go from where I am to there then to deal with paying "commoner's" prices.

How much is a 4670k? If they sell it for 150$ you're better off with that one.

It's like $180; Intel Core I5 4670k 3.4GHz Socket LGA 1150 Boxed Processor. So it's a $70 price difference at Microcenter...

Oh, and there's CPU & mobo bundles too... WHY MICROCENTER?! WHY MUST YOU TAUNT ME?!

Are you talking to me or the OP? I'm not going to be building a PC until June or July. By then, there might be new parts and I could take advantage of the last-current gen being "obsolete" and nab a decent processor for less than it is now and new, too. Seriously, AMD's GPU prices hiking up from the stupid mining craze and 7950's selling for $150 a while ago ****** me off.

A crappy office PC circa 2009 to 2011 aka the Stone Age.

Anything besides the optical drive (and hard drive that was used for my PS3 a while ago - I put the original drive back in) is utterly useless if I wanted to upgrade or anything. Also, it would be better to help the OP rather than me at this point since it's still a long time until I do anything.

Microcenter is the cheapest place ive seen that isnt a shady ebay seller. I buy 95% of my stuff from microcentet or newegg providing its in the local will call center. Wish they would build microcenter closer I hate driving 45 min and paying the $3 worth of tolls which is still way cheaper than shipping charges and its in some urban develpment area which means they only have to charge 3.5% tax instead of the 7%
