A few weeks ago i just sat and watched a youtube video and my pc just frooze. Decided to reboot it and then it kept freezing after a minute or so. I formatted the ssd and reinstalled windows but then it just kept freezing on the install. I have tried different SSD's and i just cant get it to work. I have a ASUS z490-p motherboard. i7-10700k cpu. rtx 3070 gpu and 32gigs of 3200 mhz ram. Does anyone know what the problem may be. The pc was working just fine untill the first freeze.

Did you do any RAM testing? It's quick and easy, so a good first step. Then check your boot drive in another system (if possible) to rule out SSD errors.

As an aside, I never understood the panic response of Reinstall everything! A little troubleshooting goes a long way.

By ram testing. You mean like taking out like a few ram sticks and testing all of them?

I suppose there are multiple approaches you could take here. I'd start with a quick run of Memtest from a bootable USB with your current configuration to check for any errors. If it finds some, then start removing sticks and/or swapping slots to determine where the issue lies.

Edit: I'll add that this issue you're having might not be memory related at all, but testing is very trivial so it doesn't hurt to start here.

I am doing a memory test now. But if it is not the memory what do you think it could be? Motherboard maybe?

CPUs almost never "go bad," unless thermally neglected for long periods, so I doubt that's the cause. My next thought would be the SSD, but you claim to have tried other ones to no avail. Were they of the same type and connected to the same port? It's possible the m.2/SATA port you're using is acting up. If SATA, you could also try another cable.

Yeah i bought a new SSD just for this. I used the same m.2 port since i only have one. I just tried the memory thing and it found no problems. I found somewhere that a guy had the same problem but he just got a new installation file on the usb
