SSD and HHD question

Is it possible to use half of a 2tb HHD for backing up a 1tb SSD and the other half for storage. I already have a 1tb nvme SSD in my system but I'm looking to back up the data on it and get some extra game storage. Any help on if its possible and if so how to achieve a setup like this.

You can just partition the HDD in two using the storage Manager, Although i would not recommend you do that to a HDD since it wont perform well if you try to do both. Other then that you could just back up your data to it, and then in another folder use it for game storage, but again i would say dont do both at the same time.

You can create a 1TB VHD file,mount it and back up the SSD to the VHD file.

this is what I was thinking of doing, but would this work with a software that would automatically make a backup for me, and if so how could I get this to work?

You don't need to partition anything. Backup software, at least in default form will make an image of your SSD and create a single file which it will store anyplace you wish. Most backup software now compresses, and on average it's about a 50% ratio depending on content . Given your SSD is likely not full it will result in 1/2TB at most.
