I'm looking at buying a new laptop. I have two choices up on my computer now; a Dell Inspiron 14 with an i5-11300H and an Inspiron 15 with an i7-1165G7. I really just want the computer that will last me the longest. My work consists mainly around CPU multi-core performance.

Note, I don't do much heavy gaming. Intel Iris Xe graphics is really good enough for my use case, and I have had a bad experience with AMD in the past, so I'd like to stick with Intel for my next PC.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the i7 has 12GB of RAM, the i5 has 8.

The i5 one is 529 USD and the i7 is 599 USD.

Not a bad price. The lenovo flex with a 5500u would be the better laptop here tho same price better cpu performance. The 11300h will have pretty darn poor battery life.

Amd of years ago is not comparable to amd now. That and manufacturers are finally putting the chips in not crap tier laptops.

AMD has just been poor all around with me. The last AMD PC I had was total garbage, and was VERY unstable with my workloads. And that was in 2020.

I guess you got unlucky with it. But the lenovo flex is a tried and true good working laptop and better than either here. With a better screen, battery and performance.

Yeah, I had a look. It doesn't have as much storage as I'd like it to have. And I really don't think AMD will work out for me.

The i7’s iGPU is stronger (20%~ ahead) but otherwise, CPU performance between the two is nearly identical.

This ignores manufacturers fiddling with power delivery through firmware which could end up putting on machine head and shoulders above the other.

If this was full prices we

eere talking about, I’d recommend an AMD system. The newer 8 core Cezanne and newer chips are phenomenally good.

Given the steep discounts though, I’d probably lean towards the 11300H system and use the savings for a bigger SSD.

However, can you link the two systems. The RAM speed is an important spec to check for these.
