ram speed causing micro stutter

my mates pc is a ryzen system but he has 2666hz memory, all games micro stutter and the ram speed seems to be the only weak point, before he buys new ram would that stop the micro stutter?

No way we can tell you if you don't list system specs of the machine - Remember we're not there to see what you/they are dealing with.

CPU, board and RAM info would be most helpful to make that determination.  

I can tell you already if you're using Corsair Vengeance RAM with a Ryzen system that could be the problem - Corsair RAM and Ryzen tend to not like each other.

Unlikely but possible. Slow RAM can contribute to poor frame pacing, which could be perceived as "micro stutter", but there are other potential causes.

What's the full spec of the PC? CPU - RAM - Motherboard (chipset is the important part here, model helps too though) - GPU - boot/game drives - Power Supply.

The slow RAM speed can the problem since, the Infinity Fabric (IF) communication data lanes between the CCX modules inside the CPU runs at 1:1 speed with memory frequency.

If your RAM 1333 MHz (i.e. DDR4-2666), the IF will run at 1333 MHz. If the RAM is 1800 MHz (i.e. DDR4-3600), it will run at 1800 MHz.

 

Give us MORE system information / specifications.

• WHICH Ryzen CPU (i.e. Ryzen 7 5800X)?
• CPU Cooler?
• Motherboard make and model?
• RAM configuration (i.e. 2 X 8GB DDR4-2666) ?
• Graphics Card?
• Power Supply?

this is the fun part, its a pre built system, 1660s, ryzen 2500x, A320 board 2x8 2666hz memory, 256gb m.2 ssd and a 1TB hard drive, i replaced the psu with a 80plus gold modular one i had spare, all pre built memes aside iv seen prebuilts worst than this not have micro stuttering, made sure all bloatware and background apps are not causing it, only issue is that unless he gets a new mobo the highest speed the mobo can take is 2933hz

On A320, you're lucky getting 2666, I have a 2600x with a fairly good mem controller but not great. 

IF the board will support faster RAM speed, I have the settings to get it stable for you.
