Samsung tv keeps turning on and off

Kunal Gupta

So i have a samsung tv NU7100, and it randomly keeps turning on and off…its not like it never turns off. After every like 3 months this problem comes to surface…and then it stays like this for some weeks. And after that it works perfectly fine. Anyone have any idea the reason behind since according to samsungs service…they need to change the entire motherboard which will cost fucking $300

P.S ignore the background voice in video below

Motherboard seems about right to me as well. Definitely looks and sounds like a power delivery issue with the board. If the TV is new and under warranty it should be covered so I'm guessing the only reason Samsung wants to charge is because it is out of warranty? It depends on how much you originally payed for it but at $300 might as well just buy a new one, B&H has them for $349 with free shipping here in the US. You could also try finding the part yourself and doing the replacement yourself but finding the part may be a little difficult.

Well then shouldnt it just not work at all?? This has been happening with me since 2020.  Like for example this thing happened in January but after a week it fixed itself and worked fine perfectly. After that, this js the second time its doin this year

No, motherboard issues can be complex, it happens with computers too. A malfunctioning capacitor or chip causing power fluctuations can be pretty common and doesn't necessarily mean it just kills the TV or board. What you are describing is definitely possible, unfortunately I think your TV is just faulty it's either fix it or buy a new one. It sucks to hear but that's just the way it is. With what has been described and shown I don't think you're going to find any other solution.
