Helpful tips to connect soundbar to multiple devices

Hi I'm looking for help in connecting my soundbar up to multiple devices it only has one hdmi in and one hdmi out port I would like to pass-through all devices through the soundbar then to the tv any splitter, switcher, receiver recommendations would helpful to.

The current set-up:

Tv earc to soundbar earc then from soundbar to xbox

The reason why:

I have problem when using any on the tvs hdmi ports with any device like xbox, fire tv etc, the sound will mute after a while when using the soundbar. When devices are passing through the soundbar the sound doesn't mute.

More information

I have the soundbar always in dolby atmos virtual surround mode which to me is much clearer to listen to.

Soundbar: Sony HT-X8500

Tv: Samsung 50" TU8500

Thanks again for any helpful information.

One of your HDMIs should be designated ARC (Audio Return Channel). Be sure your soundbar is connected to a port that supports ARC.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***
