Good Day,

I want to make my speakers and headphones louder.

I've been down this road before. In years past, there was an audio file I was able to edit to increase the gain on all audio outputs. I have long since forgotten how to pull this off, and I can find no reference to it.

Since then, I've been rather disappointed with the current solutions offered by the Google for increasing the decibel output of audio devices on Windows 10.

Does anyone know what I am speaking of when it comes to editing audio output via a single file/doc? It seems much simpler than the solutions currently offered.

(assuming you are on windows 10)

  1. Right click the speaker symbol in the bottom left of the system tray
  2. Select 'Sounds'
  3. In the new window navigate to the 'Playback' tab
  4. Select the audio device you would like to configure
  5. Select 'Properties' at the bottom right of the window
  6. In the new window navigate to the 'Levels' tab
  7. Adjust gain and other parameters

Alternatively, you could use a 3rd party program such as Voicemeeter.

install gentoo

If you have the time to do it, setting up voicemeeter can be worth it. Not only it lets you adjust the gain, you can also do more cool stuff like having separate audio inputs for things like having some apps sound through the headphones but not through the speakers or vice versa.

But yeah, I don't know about this. Navigating through the Windows audio settings seems to be the most straightforward option

Hopefully you have an audio enhancement called "Loudness equalization" - this can help bring quieter source material up to a more normal level.
