Budget (including currency):

Country:

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

1. Budget & Location

$AUD circa $2500

2. Aim

I am looking to update my current PC, its used mostly for work/Gaming.

My work is lightweight so nothing special needs to be accounted for there.

For Gaming, I spend more of my time between Satisfactory, AOE, Cities & a mixture of racing/FPS games. I don’t expect to max the settings out for this budget – just want a decent uplift from my current build (below).

I would also like to have the ability to have up to 10 HHD (3.5inch) internally, this would save me having to run a separate box for my plex server.

3. Monitors

I have 1x 1440p 34inch monitor (as per the image) with 2x 1080p 60hz monitors in support (I game on the 1440p)

4. Peripherals

Have windows, so unlikely to buy another copy, and recent upgrade mouse/keyboard so nothing needed there.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Simply due to the aging performance of my current build

Attached is the spec I have currently got to – interested to know if anyone has any better ideas.

Seems like a decent build. Not sure if a 850 watt platinum psu is necessary but I guess it doesn't hurt. Granted I have no idea of the quality of the Silverstone unit so I would double check that just in case as rating doesn't always mean the psu is good as there are plenty of crap gold rated psus.

Just double checked and it looks like its a quality power supply and shouldn't be an issue. Still not sure if it's the most cost effective for the build as you don't need 850 watts for that level of hardware but having headroom is nice when you want to upgrade to a more powerful gpu or cpu down the line.

This is what I would recommend. Going Intel is probably the better play than amd since am4 sockets are pretty much dead. Nvidia cards will usually perform better at higher resolution especially if you get a 3070ti: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/MR4Ycf/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-8-gb-vision-oc-video-card-gv-n307tvision-oc-8gd

6700xt/3070(ti) minumum

Do not pay over 130$ for an nvme, samsung is a ripoff for that price

Good board but i think youll be better off with a lower end or cheaper board like a pro, pro4, aorus pro p, etc. I/O is the only thing you wanna focus on as cpu overclock is dead and ram oc doesnt matter that much aka mostly for fun

Iirc on au pcpp theres an 850w msi mpg at 110$

No more than 130$ on a case, that particular case is also terrible due to lack of airflow so search for ones with perforated/mesh front

You may be able to find a 5600 for cheaper

No more than 200$ on rams, on pcpp its a choice between 2x16 ballistix (only worth it for 4600+ cl18) or 2x16 rgb pro. Also 4x8 is a terrible config due to stressing the imc uneccesarily
