The best CPU you could upgrade to would be an i7-7700 or 6700, but those rarely go for any kind of reasonable price. If you did manage to get one for about $80 to $100 that would be reasonable.

I'm not sure what power supply this desktop uses, but it doesn't look like much. You may want to upgrade that along with the graphics card, depending on what you go with

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

What are your games/apps and what are your expectations? Because, you can use it as is for most games that are not graphically intensive or big games but at lower settings.

i mostly play call of duty's but i get a little stuttering  and minecraft but im just looking to play games like warzone also witch will not open on my pc and i like playing minecraft with shaders but they give me low fps im guessing it would run alot better with a better gpu and cpu

First check if your RAM is dual channel (you need to have 2 of the same RAM sticks installed for this to work).

Main performance boost will come from GPU upgrade. If you are getting GTX 1660 or any RTX you will probably need to also upgrade your PSU (unless for whatever miracle you don’t have 400w or higher already). I’m bad with Radeon tiers, so giving only Nvidia.

If you are upgrading PSU, you might want to add a bit more and get a better case to have better airflow.

I don’t think you should be concerned with CPU upgrade as much, unless you can find dirt cheap compatible high tier one (used).

Also, forgot, you mentioned you have HDD. Even though having SSD WILL NOT give you any more fps, it will make everything load faster, and pc will overall feel snappier.

So, it would be a good idea to look into getting a small reliable SATA III SSD at least for Windows (they should

Here's couple of guides to help you find the info

Dual channel RAM: https://diaryofdennis.com/2012/11/12/how-to-check-if-your-computer-memory-is-running-in-dual-channel-mode/

PSU wattage: https://www.thetechwire.com/how-to-find-out-what-power-supply-you-have/

After you find your PSU info, you can check what wattage you need for the new GPU here: https://www.bequiet.com/en/psucalculator

(select your CPU as socket 1151, add 1 SATA and 2 RAM, unless it differs in your case)

Currently it shows that even with a 1660 upgrade it is way bellow 300w - much less than I thought 🙂

Youtube has many performance showcase videos so you can just search for '1660 8400 minecraft shaders' or 'gaming' and get pretty much good approximation of what to expect.

Also be careful if looking into used GPUs
